As promised, one more blog from me after the Oscars!
1994 was
the year of Beauty queens for India after Sushmitha Sen and Aishwarya
Rai were titled Miss Universe and Miss World correspondingly in the
same year. From then, several more titles followed for India – Miss
Universe, Lara Dutta (2000) and Miss World titles for Diana Hayden
(1997), Yuktha Mookhey (1999) and Priyanka chopra (2000).
Did
India start producing prettier women after 1994? :) On a serious note,
I think it was due to two reasons 1) the western world started noticing
& appreciating Indian beauty better and 2) Other Indian women rose
up to the challenge and walked the aisle with the confidence to follow
the footsteps of their predecessors.
Drawing an analogy to the
field of music, with the breadth of talented musicians available in
India, and the variety and scope of Indian music, lets hope that many
music directors (& sound mixing pros) will step up to dreaming
& winning many more Oscars and international awards for India,
after tonight!
p.s: Eight on 10 Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire and 3 for India.
Best Original Song: A R Rahman and Gulzar for ‘Jai Ho...’
Best Sound Mixing: Ian Tapp, Resul Pookutty and Richard Pryke
